Our stories can be very healing and everyone benefits from sharing wisdom. We come to recognize that we are all experts in our own lives and we all have something to offer. Materials: You’ll need your journal and/or note paper and a pen or pencil for the first part. Your favourite imagery (whatever you have on hand: drawn, painted, printed off from Google, magazine pages, old books, scrapbook paper etc.), a glue stick, scissors and your journal or cardstock. Handouts will be emailed directly to you just before the class.

BOOK CLUB NIGHT
7:00pm – 8:30pm
Book clubs are fun and informative gatherings where people chat about books! What could be more fun?! Often book clubs will focus on one book and everyone will discuss the specific book but in this case I would like to suggest that each participant bring a book that they love, has influenced them, or made some kind of impact on their lives to share with the group. Reading can open our minds and facilitate transformation, spiritual shifts, and bring joy into our lives. So lets share and discuss books that have moved us. This book club gathering is open to any and all book lovers.
Marisa Farr (RCC, MA) is a registered clinical counsellor by day and an avid book lover at all other times. She is currently part of 2 book clubs and when she is not reading she enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and connecting with friends.

CREATIVE JOURNALING FROM HOME: Imagination and the Magic of What Could Be
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Imagination is a characteristic we tend to take for granted. Imagination is what floats in our dreams, teases our thoughts and escapes onto journal pages, splashing over and into our lives. It delights, provokes wonder and heals the soul!
Materials: You’ll need your journal and/or note paper and a pen or pencil for the first part. We will be using magazine pages as our ‘palette’. We are not after imagery to begin with but are wanting a collection of colour. If you want to prepare ahead of time, tear magazine colours into slightly larger than postage stamp pieces and sort into baggies i.e. a baggie for greens, blues, yellows etc. (or just the colours you like). You’ll need a glue stick or any acrylic medium and scissors. Feel free to work in your journal or on cardstock. An outline of a favourite image (i.e. a bird, horse, wolf etc.) that will fit your page would also be helpful but not necessary right away. You can find almost any image on line or you can draw your own. Handouts will be emailed directly to you just before the class.

ENNEAGRAM RETREAT/WORKSHOP
Friday, February 7th, 7:00 pm – 9:00pm and
Saturday February 8th; Full Day Retreat, 9:00am – 4:00pm
Facilitated by: Rev’d Helen Tervo, Rebecca Horch, Ron & Marilyn Isaak
The Enneagram, as a way of learning about yourself, is best explored in a circle conversation. Bring your knowledge, questions and discoveries, and an open heart for growth. If you do not know your Enneagram number take an Enneagram test prior to this retreat. You can find a good one at www.9types.com/rheti/index.php for no charge or tests.enneagraminstitute.com for a cost of $12.00
WORKSHOP: The Enneagram and Parenting. Rebecca says of the enneagram: It has been so helpful in her personal growth. It acts as a guide to help her grow towards a place of fullness so that she can be comfortable and confident in her truest self. Rebecca is a certified enneagram coach with Your Enneagram Coach. She has a degree in child and youth care with an extensive background in child, youth and family support. She is a mom of 3 young kids and a wife to her husband of 12 years.
WORKSHOP: Moving to Balance. Helen says of the Enneagram: “The Enneagram has been such a useful tool to explore and investigate the wounds of the past and their effect on my present living. It is astounding how my life and choices have been built on biases and compulsions that form a predictable pattern. Not only that but the Enneagram is a map that enables me to break these patterns and find balance.”
WORKSHOP: The Enneagram and Relationships. Ron says of the Enneagram: “The enneagram has enabled me to recognize my unconscious ways of being in this world; to recognize some as unhealthy survival strategies that I am free to let go of and others as wonderful aspects of who I am that give me joy. In relationships with others, at its best, it has given me insight into other people’s ways of being that helps me make sense of and to provide space for what’s going on in the relationship.” Marilyn says of the Enneagram that she is so thankful for the language that the Enneagram has given her for thinking about who she is and how she got here. It has helped her find healthier, more satisfying ways of relating. Studying the Enneagram in a group setting is a great way to learn about it!
Fee: $150 per person. Scholarships available.

OPENING TO SCRIPTURE – LECTIO DIVINA
Sunday, September 15 – 7:00 – 8:30pm
Facilitated by Reverend Sharon Smith
Lectio Divina is a path of prayer in order to discover an awareness of and communication with God. Within this practice, the Scriptures become the landscape in which we meet God and it offers a space in which God and humanity listen to, and rest with, one another. On this Holy Cross Sunday, we will be deeply reflecting on and responding to Scripture and a poem, opening our whole selves up (body, heart and mind) to the gentle direction of the Spirit of Christ.
Sharon is currently the Vicar (Priest) at St. Catherine’s Capilano in N. Vancouver. Sharon became interested in the practice of Lectio Divina while working Downtown Eastside as a way to access the heartbeat and lived experience of the Scriptures with groups of people from diverse backgrounds.

Celtic Spirituality Retreat – July 21 – 27

Location: Sorrento Centre, Sorrento BC
Come engage in Christian Celtic Spirituality themes through story, chants, and interactive experiences to connect more deeply with our True Essence, the Sacred Earth, and Oneness with God.
Facilitated by Lorie Martin and David Taylor
What is it about Celtic Spirituality that continues to rise from the ancient paths to lead us in the earthy embodied ways of living our authentic faith? Perhaps it began with songs sung while washing the baby, when planting seeds, or with prayers said when bowing to the moon at night.
In this course we will learn and engage the deep wells of Christian Celtic Spirituality to be refreshed in our true Essence and re-oriented in the essential goodness of all of Creation. We will be recalled to the holy work of listening to the heartbeat of God in quiet, through community, in the sacred utterances of creation, through spiritual practices and compassionate action.
Time will be spent exploring Celtic themes through circle gatherings, Celtic chants, Morning Prayer overlooking the lake, and hands-on art and nature stations. Together we will build a Celtic Cross in nature connecting with the elements and praying for the Earth. The brave may even circle dance!
“Let us become aware of God’s Presence within and all around”
“May we open to what has never happened before.” J P Newell
I have had the honor and joy to have been on retreat and attended 3 years of the School of Celtic Consciousness with John Philip Newell, who is today’s leading teacher/author on Celtic Spirituality. I love the earthy, simple but profound, teaching and practices of Christian Celtic Spirituality – Lorie

The Exercise concludes with a debriefing, conducted as a ‘talking circle’, during which participants discuss the learning experience, process their feelings, ask questions, share insights and deepen their understanding. Canada is in a season of reconciliation and we are all invited to participate.
